Homeroom 5B News and Information

Re-registration due Friday, February 17th

The Parents' Association's Wishing for Spring Fling Night of Comedy is being held on Friday, March 10th in the school auditorium.

It has been our school’s tradition to have each class create a fabulous basket to be raffled off at one of our events (previously for the Night of Irish Music with Andy Cooney, the 100th Anniversary Gala and Fashion Shows).  These baskets have become an important part of the Parents' Association's fundraising efforts and we’re excited to make them a part of this fun event.

We are asking each student to contribute a suggested amount of $10 (or whatever you feel comfortable donating).
With the money collected, we will create a basket with a theme specifically chosen by our class.

Please return all donations to Jennifer Sanford c/o Aidan by Friday, February 17th.
Thank you for your support and generosity!

Math

The Math program focuses on three critical areas: (1) developing fluency with addition and subtraction of fractions, and developing understanding
of the multiplication of fractions and of division of fractions in limited cases
(unit fractions divided by whole numbers and whole numbers divided by unit fractions); (2) extending division to 2-digit divisors, integrating decimal fractions into the place value system and developing understanding of operations with decimals to hundredths, and developing fluency with whole number and decimal operations; and (3) developing understanding of volume.

Science is a way of knowing, a process for gaining knowledge and understanding of the natural world. The Science  program places emphasis on understanding and using skills. Students should be active learners. It is not enough for students to read about science; they must do science. They should observe, inquire, question, formulate and test hypotheses, analyze data, report, and evaluate findings. The students, as scientists, should have hands-on, active experiences throughout the instruction of the science curriculum.

Absent Notes

A written excuse stating the reason for the absence and signed by the parent, must accompany a student the day he/she returns to school.
