Also, know that it is fine to copy and paste any of the asnwers from your original assignment into the study guide. For example, you already have every definition typewritten in your 9-1 assignment. The purpose of the study guide is to allow you to gather all of your knowledge about ecosystems into one place and then we can print it all and use it as flash cards to study. We will work on the study guide for lessons 2-4 together in class tomorrow and start studying with partners in class. The Chapter 9 Topic test is on Thursday.

Finally, some student notebooks are almost full, so quite a few students will need a a new composition book soon. Thank you!

5b News Bulletin: It is Monday at 4pm--do you know where your math textbook is? Well, if you forgot it in your locker (I just counted about 8 of them!), you can do this alternative assignment to prepare for tomorrow's test:
Study each workbook page lesson summary, then copy out an assortment of 5 different problems from each of the worksheets. Be sure to choose the problems that you need the most practice with! Also, se the problem numbers from the page, so you can check them later. In essence, you will be creating your own customized worksheet just for your needs:) Solve the problems, then check them against your answer sheet. Then you will know what you need to work on some more to prepare for the test to study. Also, if you have questions, ask me in the morning:) Show me this tomorrow as your page 38-39 alternative. Please be sure to SHOW ALL WORK!
Monday 10/19
Science A/B - Start bringing your elevateScience softcover textbook to school every day until further notice.
Religion 5b - If you have not completed your research in your team as of yet, please finish it at home. This can be done independently.

Math B- Study for tomorrow's Ch 2 math test and complete these problems on page 38-39 (14-16), (20-21), (28-30), (34-39), (48-53)
Math A/B Reminder: Students should be studying every day, Monday-Thursday. So far in class, I have given students 3 different ways to study that should take less than 20 minutes a day, including completing any assigned problems. Here is a review of 3 ways to study:
1) When you have problems assigned in the workbook for homework: Reread the top of the workbook page before you begin the assignment so that you are practicing the right way and getting in some studying time.
2) When we go over assignments in class, students are instructed to use pen to to circle any incorrect answers , write the correct answer, and write any other notes they need about how to sovle the problem, all right there on the workbook page. When you go home, write the problems you got wrong out on a separate sheet of paper, reread the lesson summary on the top of the workbook page, try the problems again and check it against your answer key.
3) If I do not assign any problems for homework or simply ask you to "study" here is what I mean: Reread the top of each workbook page in the chapter that you have completed so far, then copy 2-4 problems out (not answers) from the page on a separate sheet of paper. Solve the problems and check your answers against the answer key (your previously completed and checked worksheet.) This will immediatley let you know if you are approaching the problem correctly, and if not, you can reread and start over. If you still can't solve the problem correctly, when you come to school the next day, ask me to explain it to you.

1) We have received permission for you to bring your Math hardcover textbooks to school and leave them here! I am so thrilled!! please lug in that math book on Monday and you may leave it here. Later in the week, Mrs. Pirraglia will invite you to bring your hardcover Journey's textbook, but for now, the only hardcover book you will need to bring and leave here is your MATH TEXTBOOK. We will continue to have you carry your workbook pages back and forth in your folder until further notice.
2) 5B students please remove Religion Chapter 1 from your folder and bring Chapter 2 with you to school on Monday so we can get started on Chapter 2.
For students who were absent today I just posted this message to you on Google Classroom 5B Homeroom Stream:
If you were out on Friday,10/2 please try to make up the following work so you are prepared on Monday.
In Math, we had another lesson on decimals and began working on a practice page. We finished problems 1 -12. The lesson slides, extra materials for your notebook, and the notes we took from the Smartboard, as well as the practice page are in Math 5B, Classwork, 10/2 dated files.
In Science, we finished taking the quiz on the Scientific Method. For those that weren't here, you can make up the quiz on Monday, so please come to school prepared to take it.
In Religion, students finished their research projects on Thursday. They are on the bulletin board. At this point, if you have not been in class, please make sure you have formatted your work correctly (font: Times New Roman, Size 12, Double Spacing, title should be center aligned, and the first line of each paragraph should be indented by using the tab key.) Also, make sure you have used correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. For example, make sure to always capitalize St. Francis, and the word I. We will be on to Chapter 2 in our religion class on Monday so we need for you to finish as much as possible at home so that we can print it during homeroom.
Thursday, 10/1
Math A/B - none
Science A/B - Study the notes you took in class today. There will be a quiz tomorrow. If you did not get all of the notes because you were out of the room or left early, please check Google Classroom.

Check carefully for spelling, capitalization, and punctuation errors.

For example, if you need help writing a hypothesis, go to the Lesson Slides on Writing a Hypothesis. Please turn in your work tonight so that I can grade it tonight and give you feedback tomorrow to help you prepare for the test.
