STEM PROJECT: Your assingment for this long weekend is to visit a dollar store and purchase an item for $1 that you can use to easily hang your lunchbag on the side of your desk. If you want more information, keep reading:
We have working on a low-cost hassle free way to hang our lunch bags on the pole that runs horizontally under your desks so that the lunch bag rests outside the desk and doesn't hit your knees. We have discussed many solutions in class and the pros and cons of each solution.
* You cannot hang anything permanently (no glue or stick ons)
* Most magnets that are strong enough to hold a lunch bag would cost more than one dollar and as engineers we have limited resources ($1).
*We want to be able to clip our lunch bags on our desks quickly and not have to get down on our knees to do it.
* Some ideas that students came up with in class included: tieing a ribbon or velcro around the pole and clipping the lunch bag to it with a carbiner or some other clip that can stay on the lunchbag handle so you can just clip it on to the ribbon. Hopefully you can find this for just $1 because we are practicing using limited resources.
* I do have lots of ribbon, but perhaps not enough for everybody. We measured and each desk would need 17 inches of ribbon. So if you would like to bring in some ribbon for yourself that would be terrific.
Reminders: Science, Scientific Method, and STEM test is Tuesday 10/26.
Math Chapter 2 Test is Wednesday 10/27. We have been reviewing for both tests n school and will continue that work next week, but you MUST do some studying at home. Here is a link to a very helpful video on rounding decimals:
