Welcome to Kindergarten
Children must wear their mask at school because we are very concerned with the health and safety of all other children in our classroom. When seated, the children will be able to take off their masks. They must put their masks back on when they stand and move around the room.
Children must bring lunch and snacks each day in a brown paper bag. All items must be disposable.(If you bring a lunchbox to school, it must be sanitized before it can be brought back to school) We are a nut free school. No nut products are allowed in the building.(including Nutella)
All students will be given three folders. A St. Mary’s Folder which will contain daily notices and is where you should put notes for the teacher. An orange folder marked chapters and units which will hold the students book work which must be sent to school. School items may not be left in the building, as a result, all books will be brought home each day. To make it easier for Kindergarten, we are asking that you check our google page each week to find what pages you should send in from each book. These will be kept in the orange folder marked chapters and units. The third folder will be a blue folder labeled classwork which will contain the work completed during the school day. Each folder must travel back and forth to school each day.
Due to the pandemic, toys will not be allowed in school. Children may not bring any toys or stuffed animals from home.
All school supplies must be kept in a gallon sized ziploc bag with your child’s name and class written on it. This must be brought to school each day. Please make sure the bag contains-large sized crayons, scissors(Fiskars), 2 glue sticks, and each child will be given a primary sized pencil to use in school. Your child will be given various manipulatives placed in another ziploc bag to be used in school. Please be advised that your child is the only child touching these items. Both bags must be brought to school daily.
Homework begins in October, more information about this will follow.
Please review letters , numbers and names each day.
Looking ahead, we will need your support and cooperation in creating individual learning centers and printing materials. More information about this will follow.
Please make sure you write on your child's name tag their bus number, route and district. Also make sure we are aware if your child will be picked up from school and who will be picking them up. This information can be written on the back of the name tag. You must inform us of any changes to their pickup routines. We also need to know if your child will be attending after-care when the program begins. Please email all of this information to your teacher.
There will be early dismissal days for the first week of school. Full days will begin on September 14th. The beginning of the school year is a time of transition for the students. They will be introduced to our class routines and class rules. Please speak with your child about their days and encourage them to listen and follow directions. Children must be able to independently open all items, dress themselves and pack and unpack their backpacks.
