In ELA this week we will complete Journeys Unit 4 Lesson 16. The anchor text for this week will be the realistic fiction text, Mr. Tanen’s Tie Trouble. With this text, students will respond to the essential question: How can helping others make you feel good? Students will strengthen their comprehension skills by focusing on "story structure" with this story. Our phonics and spelling lessons for the week will focus on base words with endings -ed and -ing. In grammar, students will learn about pronouns. Our Spelling and ELA tests for this lesson will be. Our ELA tests will be Grammar (pronouns) and Phonics (base words with -ed and -ing endings).
MATH
We will begin Chapter 10 this week, which is an exploration of foundational multiplication skills. We will learn how to determine if a number is even or odd. Students will recognize even numbers as the sum of two equal addends. Students will use addition with equal addends to find the number of objects in an array. Students will also represent numbers using arrays.
RELIGION
Students will work to prepare for their First Holy Communion. Students will understand that Communion is the Body and Blood of Jesus. Students will also understand the parts of the Mass. We will practice the steps to receive Communion.
Social Studies
In Social Studies, students will continue to focus on Chapter 4: People Who Supply Our Goods and Services. This week students will learn about the importance of farmers as producers. This week students will also identify the roles of producers, distributors, and consumers. Students will understand how producers and consumers work together.
